A note from the Deputy Director-General

Queensland Courts and Tribunals are on the cusp of a transformative journey, and I am thrilled to convey our commitment to embracing advancement in digital technologies and enhancing our services to benefit the community through the Courts and Tribunals Digitisation Program (CTDP).

CTDP will digitise the courts and tribunals system with a goal of improving access to justice in Queensland. Digitisation will include improving back-office processes, from streamlining workflows through to enhancing the ability for court and tribunal users to engage with the justice system digitally.

The introduction of new and innovative technology will bring about significant change. Converting our processes to an easily accessible and customisable format will see us move towards a paper-lite future.

We are committed to ensuring equitable access to justice and understand that Queensland Courts and Tribunals need digital capability that is reliable, user-friendly, and safe. This isn't just a technological upgrade; it's a strategic move to foster innovation and transparency in our operations. To meet the diverse requirements of the community, we will require incremental and continuous modernisation.

We understand the importance of involving our external stakeholders in this transformative process. Your perspectives and feedback are invaluable as we strive to create an ecosystem that benefits everyone. We envision a collaborative approach where government, businesses, and court users work together to build a smarter, more connected community.

A note from the Senior Director

Supporting a fair and equitable justice system, our program, the Courts and Tribunals Digitisation Program (CTDP) will partner with the judiciary, court users and staff to achieve a paper-lite future for Queensland Courts and Tribunals. Paper-lite in this context will evolve back-office court operations to improve operational processes as well as introduce electronic filing and case management systems. The program will seek to achieve this by:

Responsive Service

Providing court users, the legal profession and self-represented litigants digital lodgement portals to aid online interactivity.

Better data

Improve the availability of timely and accessible data for all court users whilst maintaining confidence in trusted technology.

Enhanced Productivity

Reducing manual, paper-based, work and improved information search and sharing capability.

Reduced Risk

Improved safety of court participants through the enhanced capability to facilitate safe, remote appearances via video link and the safe storage of recorded evidence.

Cost

Transitioning back-office court operations to digital systems will significantly reduce paper and printing consumption. Additionally, an improved capability to ensure optimised resource allocation to provide support across regional and remote registries.
